William L.
Troutman
Sep 1, 1924 — Dec 30, 2023
William L. "Bill" Troutman III, 99, a resident of Haddon Heights for over 70 years, passed away peacefully in his home on December 30, 2023. Predeceased by his loving wife of 74 years, Pia. He is survived by his children Carol Cybulski (Joe), Jacqueline Raile (Marvin) and Lee. He is also survived by his grandchildren Benjamin, Jessica (Nathan), Aubrey (Eric), William (Casey) and Shannon (Ernest) and great-grandchildren Evan, Julia, Graeme, Rhys, Liam and Madelaine.
Bill grew up during the Great Depression. He was from a coal mining family, raised in Wood, Pennsylvania. His "hobbies" were hunting and fishing, a necessity that was really a way to help his family survive the economic times of the '20s, '30s and '40s. He was also a member of the "Greatest Generation" as he served in the US Navy at the end of WW II. He settled in the area, moving to Philadelphia after meeting and marrying Pia. He worked for ARCO Chemical most of his life as a research chemist; two of his most significant inventions were the material used to insulate the arctic tundra from the heat generated by oil pipelines and the lasting finish on wood flooring you have in your houses. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 149, the New Jersey State Fish and Game Protective Association and the NRA. He was very active in the community, serving on the Planning Board, Environmental Commission and Fourth of July Committee for many years. Bill was a true citizen, had quiet wisdom about him, was inquisitive, liked to have fun, and be mischievous while focusing on family and work.
