Terry was born on May 4, 1932 to Joseph and Helen Mikus in the city of Camden, New Jersey. She was the third of four daughters, (Anna, Eleanor and Rita). Terry had many fond memories of her childhood on N17th Street in the Cramer Hill section of Camden where her family lived in a side by side 3 bedroom rowhome. She would reminisce just how fortunate her family was to have a backyard with a big beautiful pear tree that blossomed each spring and a side yard to play. Terry's profound love, admiration and loyalty to her parents and sisters always shone through.

Terry graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Camden in 1950. While there she participated in cheerleading, pep clubs, co-chaired on the dance committee and always brought in full force her true school spirit. She loved her school experience and found it to be some of her happiest years. Also, during this time, Terry along with a couple close girlfriends, worked summers waitressing in Wildwood, where she developed her love for the Jersey shore.

Upon graduation Terry worked one year at the Curtis Publishing Company in Philadelphia and then landed her cherished secretarial position of over 10 years at RCA, Camden where she flourished and formed strong friendships. It was during this time that the love of her life, Jim, asked for her hand in marriage. Married on a glorious blue skied day on October 25, 1952, Terry and Jim began their lifelong journey which took them through the many milestones of life.

Terry was a devoted wife and mother and created a warm and loving atmosphere for her family. Through her gentle guidance she made it a point to instill the importance of faith and right from wrong in her children. She was always there to lend a helping hand, wipe a tear if necessary, be a good listener and share advice. The family home had an open door policy and all were always welcomed. No matter what the occasion or celebration Terry had a knack for party planning and making everything so special for all her family and friends. From births, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, Christmas (her favorite) and family vacations, no detail was too much, and she always created the perfect gathering.

Terry also took these skills and put them to great use through her volunteer work. Whether she was room mother at her children's schools, volunteering for girl scout leader or hosting a teacher's baby shower at her house she managed it all with ease and a smile. She also found herself elected "Mother of the Year" at Bishop Eustace Prep where her children attended high school. Terry was a longtime member of the Lions Club International. She held the Vice President position of the Women's Auxiliary and both planned as well as worked numerous fundraisers. She was a member of the Woodrow Wilson Reunion Committee where she helped organize and execute various reunions throughout the decades.

Terry's zest for life was evident to all who knew her. She had an adventurous side which as in full display in taking horseback riding lessons with her young children, to skiing and snowmobiling with her family in the Poconos. She loved the arts, theater, music and dance. She held a deep passion for travel with her famous line, "Where are we going my bag is already packed!" She took many trips to Europe and particularly loved the country of Italy. She went cross-country and later visited the state of Alaska. She also had a group of friends from the Lions Club, which she referred to as her "travelling buddies." With them, she got to go to China and Japan. But with all her various travels, she would claim her best times were with a cup of coffee in hand, sitting on the deck of her Ocean City house and watching the peaceful sun rise over the Atlantic. She cherished her early morning walks on the boardwalk and spending time with her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Terry was a woman who viewed life as, "the glass half full." No matter what stage of life she recalled, she loved them all and felt so incredibly blessed.
