Robert E.
Pittman, I
Mar 3, 1938 — Sep 6, 2021
Robert E. Pittman, I was born on March 3, 1938 in Columbia South Carolina to the late Eugene Pittman and Olivia Emma Lewis. He was the oldest of 12 siblings.
Robert went home to be with the Lord on September 6, 2021 at the age of 83.
Robert started working at the early age of 13 to help make sure his siblings were provided for.
He moved to Camden, New Jersey in 1976 and worked for Aluminum Shapes until he retired.
Robert loved to travel back and forth to Florida and South Carolina to visit his parents and siblings.
One thing about him was he loved his family. He thought of you before he would think of himself, even during his sickness it was still the same and he didn't complain.
He loved to eat fish at his sister's place in Hemingsway SC, but his favorite place of all was Rocco's in Pennsauken, New Jersey, where he had to have his grits, and please don't mess that up or you would hear about it. He was known there by the name Blueberry.
Robert was a talker and loved to tell stories. He knew everyone's birthday and you could always count on that very early morning call.
His best friend was his son and his brother Tuffy, who he spoke with 2 to 3 times a day.
Robert leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife of 24 years Olivia Shaw-Pittman, daughter Burnither Faye Pittman-Jackson, son Robert E Pittman II. He also leaves his children, Jeffrey, Alfreda, Denise, Elaine, Kevin, Wayne and Demetria. Brothers and Sisters Jackie Lewis (Katie Lewis), Cora Davis, Carolyn Mapp, Jerry Lewis, David Lewis, Rev. Harriet P Massingill, James (Tuffy) Pittman (Marva Pittman), Wilhelmenia Pittman-Pressley, Rev Bernetha Wynn (Jerry Wynn) James Leewood Pittman (Sandra Pittman), Lucresia Hughes and the late Birdie Lewis, Jr. Brother and Sisters-in-law Bruce Shaw, Cynthia Anderson and Rachel Shaw. He has a host of grands, great grands, nieces, nephews and cousins.
