Obituary

Raymond Charles McMonagle, son of Charles and Elizabeth McMonagle, affectionately known as "Ray," passed away peacefully with his family by his side during his final days.

Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Ray developed a lifelong love of sports at an early age. A true Philadelphia sports fan, he rarely missed a game and could often be found wearing his favorite team's shirt and hat, watching, rewatching, and breaking down games in detail. He loved discussing sports passionately with anyone willing to listen.

Ray proudly served in the National Guard. Following his military service, he worked in Operations at Amerada Hess before becoming a business owner and owning gas stations.

Above all, Ray valued his family. He believed in putting family first and working hard to provide for the people he loved. His true gift was laughter. He was always telling a joke or making people laugh. It was his way of connecting with others and bringing joy.

Ray had a deep love of music and dancing, often spending weekends at a dance hall singing, dancing, and enjoying himself. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his dogs, whose companionship brought him comfort and joy.

Ray will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his sister, Bette Ann Logan (Jack); his brother, Jim McMonagle (Vivian); his daughters, Tracey Johnson (Chad) and Kristine Williamson (Dave); his grandchildren, whom he was so proud of, Darby Williamson, Colin Johnson, and Ryan Johnson; and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Eddie McMonagle.

His memory will live on through the family he loved, the stories he shared, the music he enjoyed, and the many moments that made him uniquely Ray.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Monday, October 5, 2026, from 10 to 11 AM, followed by his Funeral Service at 11 AM at TERRANOVA FUNERAL HOME, 402 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035.
