Mildred S. "Millie" Swanson, on January 28, 2014, age 88, of cancer, surrounded by her family and friends in her longtime home of Haddon Heights. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert S. Swanson. Beloved mother of Eileen of Oceanside, CA, Chuck (Andria) of Audubon, NJ; Drew of Ewing Twp., NJ; and Mark (Ninette) of Haddon Heights, NJ; Devoted grandmother of eight: Jennifer, Annis, Stella, Bethany, Caitlin, Robert, David and Andrew. Great-grandmother of seven: Joaquin, Gabriela, Alexander, Isabella, Akira, Audrey and Evie. Millie was the last surviving child of nine in the Sanders family and was a beloved and devoted aunt to many nephews and nieces. She was also the beloved friend of a family golden retriever, Marston. She was a 1944 graduate of Frankford High School and grew up in the 7th United Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia, Pa. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Haddon Heights for nearly 60 years, joining after she and Robert moved there in 1955. She counted years of work experience at J.C. Penney in Audubon, NJ, the Borough of Haddon Heights and 15 years in the Claims Department of Keystone AAA Insurance, where she retired as a supervisor in 1990. She devoted many years of volunteer service to the Camden County YMCA and the former Camp William G. Moore in Berlin, NJ. She was a longtime volunteer at Interfaith Caregivers and a faithful Phillies fan. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service that will be held February 8, 2014, (Family visitation at 10, Service at 11, light lunch follows for all) at the First United Methodist Church of Haddon Heights, 704 Garden St., Haddon Heights, NJ 08035. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Haddon Heights.
