Obituary

Marie E. Francesconi (nee Nardi) from Pennsauken, formerly of Camden, passed away on May 20, 2025, at home in Pennsauken.   Beloved wife of the late Thomas E. Francesconi of 56 years. Devoted mother of Thomas (Maria), Rosemarie (Austin) Duus, Valerie (Charles) Wigginton, and Joseph. Devoted grandmother of Victoria, Cecilia, Thomas, Charlie, Caroline, Joseph, Bella, and Giolina. Survived by sisters-in-law Dorothy Francesconi and Barbara Nardi and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Rose Nardi, brothers Honorable Joseph M. Nardi Jr. and Frank Nardi, and sister-in-law Rita Nardi.

Marie was born in Camden, NJ May 17, 1937. Attended and very proud alum of Camden Catholic High School, Class of 1955, then onto Misericordia University School of Nursing where she tells everyone it only cost $300/year. Marie served as the nurse at Camden Catholic High School then 40+ years of dedicated service at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Camden NJ specializing in the operating room. She was introduced to her husband Tom by a bank employee who knew they both enjoyed skiing and met at Ski Club.  In June of 1967, Tom and Marie married, moved to Pennsauken, and started a family.  The two enjoyed traveling and took their children on many road trips across the country and down south to Florida enjoying many special Disney vacations.   Marie was an avid sports fan influenced by her brothers cheering for the Brooklyn Dodgers.  Enjoying all sports, especially baseball, routing for the Dodgers and eventually the Philadelphia Phillies up until her final day.  Marie was a woman of faith, a parishioner of Mary Queen of all Saints (formerly St. Cecilia's) Pennsauken NJ for over 50 years. She and Tom volunteered MANY hours at St Cecilia's proving to be role models to their children on the importance of SERVICE.

Marie and Tom enjoyed many summers at their Woodbine home and the past 15 winters in Cape Coral, Fl. They made memories with their family, as well as with a new close-knit group of friends in Cape Coral, with whom they shared similar interests revolving around their faith and Florida parish.

Marie had a unique relationship with each of her family members and friends that will be cherished. She forged individual relationships with each of them that they will always treasure. Marie was the epitome of "Others over thy self."
