Obituary

Lauren M. Palmer (née Zimone), 33, of Somerdale, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on August 09, 2022 after a short but intense battle against cancer.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA, on October 27, 1988, daughter of Frank T. Zimone and Judith B. Zimone (née Ptashkin). She is survived by her husband, Joshua Palmer, and her son, Parker S. Palmer. She is also survived by her parents, and her younger brother, Frank A. Zimone.

Lauren graduated from Rutgers University in 2013 with a B.A. in Political Science & Government and was a member of Phi Alpha Beta and Phi Beta Kappa. In 2014, she earned an MA in International Relations & Affairs from Kings College London, UK specializing in diplomacy and conflict resolution.

Lauren joined Eisenhower Fellowships in 2015, initially as a part-time assistant in the Global Network office. She quickly distinguished herself, rising through the organization with roles as a Program Assistant, Program Officer, Deputy Director of International Programs and ultimately a member of Eisenhower Fellowships senior management team.

Lauren loved to travel, visiting an array of destinations with friends and family. Her drive and determination shone through everything she did. Becoming a mother in 2020 only strengthened her grit, as she seamlessly juggled her devotion to her son, her family, and her professional career. A kind and considerate person, Lauren always put the needs of others first. Most days ended with Lauren curling up with her beloved canines Tucker & Rusty and her speaking with Judy who was not only her mother but also her very best friend.

Lauren enriched the lives of so many people around the world, and she will forever leave a hole in our hearts while we remember fondly what she meant to us all.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be announced later where friends and family can come together to celebrate a life "well lived" that was cut far too short.
