Josephine A.
Ernst
Nov 27, 1935 — May 20, 2024
Josephine A. Ernst (nee Brullo) of Haddon Heights, formerly of West Chester, PA, passed away on May 20, 2024, at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late James. Devoted mother of Barbara Pucilowski (Stanley) and Douglas. Loving grandmother of Marisha Scott (Matthew) and Hannah O'Neill (Michael). Loving great grandmother of Edalyn Scott and the late Braelynn Scott. Dear sister of Jean Penley (the late Donald), the late Frances Savasta (the late Pete) and the late Vito Brullo (former spouse Eileen). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Josephine was born and raised in Brooklyn. From there, she met the love of her life, James, at a dance in New Jersey. They established a thriving business in the paper industry, journeyed across the globe, and settled permanently in Haddon Heights, NJ. Josephine was always dressed to impress, often complemented by a handbag and she loved her matching hair bow clips. But she would never be caught dead in a bathing suit. She was a phenomenal cook. Except she lacked any baking skills, sometimes confusing baking soda for baking powder. Josephine enjoyed Broadway plays, reading her "junk" magazines, traveling with her family, and had a love for East Hampton, New York. For Josephine, family was everything. She was active in the Italian club, Circolo Italiano of Southern New Jersey, and she always brought her A game to a match of bocce.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation, Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 10:30 to 11 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 4th Avenue and Kings Highway, Haddon Heights. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306, www.t2t.org.
