James R.
Ernst
Oct 16, 1933 — Oct 25, 2021
James R. Ernst of Haddon Heights, formerly of West Chester, PA passed away suddenly on October 25, 2021, at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Josephine (nee Brullo). Devoted father of Barbara Pucilowski (Stanley) and Douglas. Loving grandfather of Marisha Scott (Matthew) and Hannah Pucilowski (Mike). Dear brother of the late Harriet, Louise and Patricia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
James was an Army veteran that served during the Korean War. He made a career out of being a mechanical engineer for the paper industry by designing winders for the paper mills finishing divisions. He was very dedicated to his work and successful, he even started his own consulting engineering firm, James Ernst Inc. James loved a good joke, and was quite the jokester himself. He loved a good meal paired with some delicious wine (red wine only); but was also a picky eater who disliked if his food was not piping hot. If given the option he could never pass up ordering mussels off the menu. He also happened to make the best home fries according to his granddaughters, and believed breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
James cherished spending time with his family and traveling the world with his wife, Josephine, family, and close friends. James truly enjoyed the game of golf; from watching on TV, attending and even working the U.S. Open in Shinnecock Hills. He enjoyed any entertainment such as musicals or plays, and rooting for the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco Giants (previously known as the New York Giants). From football to baseball, he almost always guaranteed you a win, because whichever sports team he rooted for, they lost. James enjoyed over playing Joni James, and had an obsession with anything John Wayne when it came to old westerns.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Sun. Oct. 31, 2021 from 1 to 3 PM and Mon. Nov. 1, 2021 from 8:30 to 10 AM at TERRANOVA FUNERAL HOME, 402 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights. Funeral Mass Mon. Nov. 1, 2021 10:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 4th Ave and Kings Hwy, Haddon Heights. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306, www.t2t.org.
