James P.
Dellemonache
Feb 26, 1930 — Dec 19, 2025
Surrounded by his beloved wife and children, James Phillip DelleMonache of Cherry Hill passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 95. He leaves behind the love of his life Theresa "Terry" (nee Mikus) and children Michel Donnelly (John), James "Jamie" J. DelleMonache (Robyn) and David DelleMonache (Rosalie "Lee"). Loving grandfather of Elisabeth Beckett (David), John Donnelly (Jacqueline), Nikolas DelleMonache (Yuuki), Meghan Donnelly, Anthony DelleMonache and Steven DelleMonache. Loving great grandfather of Isaac James Beckett. James is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his immigrant parents Nicola and Annunziata DelleMonache, his brothers Isadore and Chester and sisters Louise, Pamala and Constance.
Jim was born on February 26, 1930, in Camden, New Jersey. The third of six children, Jim was proud of being raised in a two-bedroom rowhome on Henry Street where he developed his tireless work ethic and family devotion. He attended and played baseball for Burroughs Junior High School and Woodrow Wilson High School where he was voted "Cutest in the Class" in his 1948 yearbook. At a young age, Jim began working odd jobs throughout Camden to help support his family. This, in turn, developed into a lifelong passionate work ethic in which Jim never stopped modeling for his children and grandchildren the value of hard work and how to invest wisely.
Jim always said his best investment came in 1947. As a Woodrow Wilson senior, he spotted a cute sophomore after a football pep rally and boldly offered her a nickel for a kiss. She turned him down flat. Undaunted, he flipped that coin to impress her—only to watch it drop straight into the sewer, along with his bus fare home. Jim didn't give up. He kept charming that beautiful girl until she became his wife and the love of his life, Terry.
Jim entered the United States Navy in 1950 where he developed great skills and passion for linotype and printing. In October 1952, during leave, he came home to Camden to marry Theresa. After a quick honeymoon in New York City, Jim and Terry were off to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba where Jim ran the print shop and newspaper for the Naval Forces stationed there.
Upon discharge from his naval service, Jim and Terry came home to New Jersey and bought their first home in Runnemede. After being blessed with daughter Michel and son Jamie, they found their way to a larger home in Cherry Hill and welcomed son David. That home in Cherry Hill was his family's nexus for almost 40 years. A place where Jim and Terry's children, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and dear friends would frequently gather for many memorable celebrations.
While a young husband and father, Jim earned his college degree at Rutgers University's Camden campus. He took classes at night while working hard at Dunlap Brothers Printing in Camden. His tenacity and tireless work ethic earned him the opportunity to enter into ownership of Advertising Printing Company in which he served many prominent businesses in the Camden area including RCA and Campbell's Soup. His business acumen led the way to several mergers and ultimately to owning and operating the successful Chapel Advertising Printing Company—a business that he owned until his retirement in 1996. In addition, he and five of his dearest friends co-owned and operated the successful Bread Basket in Cherry Hill for several years.
Jim's passion for knowledge, family and education fueled both his public and private philanthropic outreach. Jim established a college scholarship fund in his family's name and quietly eased the financial burden for many who had the passion and drive for education. He also gave back to the community as a longtime member of the Lions Club International and made many lifelong friendships through that outreach.
Even during his retirement, Jim kept busy with what he loved the most—learning more about topics that interested him and bringing his family together. His final years were spent enjoying time along the Jersey and Delaware shores with the families his three children created. He proudly maintained his and Terry's independence and spent his final days residing in Voorhees. Jim was committed to making the places where he lived and worked reach their fullest potential and never lost his lifelong devotion to Terry.
