James R.
Cosentino
Sep 26, 1942 — Jan 2, 2026
James R. Cosentino of Sewell, passed away on January 2, 2026, at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Julia (nee D'Alessandro). Loving uncle of Linda Eckley (Paul), Eugene Cosentino, Christopher Cosentino (Dawn), Karen Kulback (Jerry), Brian Cianfrani (Megan) and Marc Cianfrani (Jessica). Dear brother-in-law of Rosemary D'Alessandro.
Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Jimmy was a man shaped by the values of another generation: honor your wife, put family first, work hard, and always thank God. He carried himself with quiet strength and though he could be rough around the edges, that exterior masked a deeply caring and gentle soul.
Jimmy spent his career with the United States Postal Service where his reliability and strong work ethic reflected the pride he took in providing for his wife. Above all else, he was devoted to Julia. Their marriage of 56 years was built on love, patience and loyalty. He especially enjoyed taking her out to their favorite restaurants and neighborhood diners, treating each outing as a perpetual first date. He took lifelong pride in being her husband.
In later years, Jimmy's faith became an increasingly important part of his life. His greatest hope was to be seen as a good person in the eyes of God. He lived that belief through his commitment to his family and his church. Though he had no children of his own, he was a proud Uncle who remained closely connected to his nieces, nephews and their children. Beneath his stoic nature was a great sense of humor and a boisterous laugh. He was an expert and good-natured teasing and would often rank his nephews simply for the laughs that followed.
Jimmy will be remembered as a man of unwavering devotion, deepening faith and enduring love for his wife and family.
