Obituary

Geraldine Margaret Acquaviva, age 73, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

Geraldine, known as Gerry, was born November 12, 1947. She was the daughter of Ann Rita & Edward Thomas Mundy (both deceased). Growing up in Chester, PA, she was one of 4 sisters. She attended Notre Dame Catholic High School, where she enjoyed her time on Student Council and was the captain of the basketball team. Her moves on the court extended to the dance floor, where she loved Friday nights at the St. James weekly school dances with her crew of girlfriends.

Gerry spent the greater part of her adult life living in Cherry Hill, NJ, where she raised her 4 children. Her family and friends have incredible memories of Gerry. These memories range from her exquisitely decorating their home for Christmas (her favorite holiday), entertaining long summer weekends and countless laughs in Ocean City, NJ, being the most generous gift giver and champion shopper, roasting enormous turkeys for every family party, enjoying the sweetest tooth for her favorite desserts, loving a good Lifetime or Hallmark special during downtime, savoring long and silly phone conversations with her grandchildren, and being the proudest mom to her 4 children. While she bravely battled her fair share of health challenges, these never changed the fact that her children and grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy.

Gerry was special to so many people and made a lasting impact on many hearts. The sound of her laugh was contagious and she had a great sense of humor. She will be especially missed by her 8 grandchildren, who loved their Nana and cherished the time they spent together.

She is survived by her beloved children, Gina Bogda (Todd) of Lititz, PA, Michele Klingmeyer (Chuck) of Smyrna, DE, Anthony Acquaviva (Jennifer) of Fairfield, CT, and Greg Acquaviva of Cherry Hill, NJ; and 8 grandchildren Brady Bogda, Emily Bogda, Owen Bogda, Benjamin Acquaviva, Griffin Klingmeyer, Andrew Acquaviva, Braeden Klingmeyer, and Viviana Acquaviva. She also leaves behind her 3 sisters, nieces & nephews, childhood best friends and countless friends who were extensions of her family.

The funeral services will be held Friday, April 23rd. Public visitation will be held at Terranova Funeral Home in Haddon Heights, NJ from 9-10 am, with a eulogy at 10 am, followed by an 11 am Mass at St. Thomas More Church in Cherry Hill, NJ. Immediately following the Mass, Geraldine will be laid to rest in the same cemetery as her parents, Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA. Family & friends are also invited to a luncheon in Springfield, PA following the services. They kindly request that you notify the family of your luncheon attendance, so that the restaurant may properly account for social distancing.

In this unique time, Geraldine's children understand that everyone will have their own means of showing respect for their mother's passing and that attending the services may not be an option. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation ( https://www.bcrf.org/ ) (A Foundation close to heart as Gerry battled this disease twice and was a huge fan of the Estee Lauder Companies) or the Caron Foundation ( https://www.caron.org/donate ).
