Obituary

Eugene A. Sobo of Haddon Heights, formerly of Patterson, NJ, passed away on June 21, 2026, at the age of 74. He is survived by his beloved partner and caregiver Adele DiMedio, his daughter Alexandria Sobo and his former wife Debbie Trenfold.  His beloved pets were Jonny Cash, Captain, Charlie and Santiago. Gene's loyal buddy Captain would always sit outside with him right by his side. So it's no surprise when Captain was sweetly comforting Gene during his last days laying quietly next to Gene with Gene's hand under Captain's head. Unfortunately Captain could not holdout anymore from his sickness and passed away a few days before Gene.

Gene graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey, in 1969. He had many friends in High School who he kept in contact with. Gene relocated to New York City, where he owned an antique business. He later moved to Chicago, where he opened various businesses, married, and welcomed a child into his life. Despite his fondness for Chicago, Gene moved to California, where he worked in television advertising as an infomercial producer, then he moved to Sleepy Hollow, New York, continuing his career in infomercial production. The wealth of knowledge Gene acquired throughout his diverse experiences endowed him with a remarkable ability for keen and insightful analysis of individuals.

Gene had a presence that shined so bright that when he walked into a room, people wanted to know him. He was a great cook and loved going to his favorite restaurants where he was always addressed as Mr. Sobo..."Hello Mr. Sobo, were would you like to sit"? Gene loved the arts, going to museums such as MOMA, The Met, Neve Galore and many more. Auctions and antique shopping was a favorite pastime. He had a very keen eye when it came to antiques. Gene was kind and considerate. He never gave opinions or gossiped. Gene never had a bad word to say about anyone.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 10 to 11 AM, followed by his Funeral Service at 11 AM at TERRANOVA FUNERAL HOME, 402 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035. Interment to follow at Harleigh Cemetery.
