Eugene Michael Principato, 73, passed away on February 1, 2024. Loving husband to his wife, Vivian. Devoted father to his daughter, Gina, and his son, Michael, and father-in-law to Colin and Candace. Loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Michael, Lia and Phoebe. Devoted brother to Joy, Josie, Cecca and Lisa.

Gene was the son of Eugene R. and Letitia (Orlando) Principato. He grew up in Haddonfield, until he met his wife, Vivian, in Philadelphia, and they moved to Washington, DC, so Gene could attend graduate school. They lived in Maryland for several years until they moved back to New Jersey, because for Gene, New Jersey was always home.

Gene was a talented athlete, playing basketball, tennis and golf throughout his life. He loved fishing and took his children, and eventually his grandson, on fishing trips. He was a proud Italian. Always wanting to stay close to his heritage, he studied the language later in life. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's undergraduate liberal arts program, and he supported and visited the school regularly. He also had a Masters in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, and an MBA from George Washington University. He worked as a marketing and business development consultant, partnering with several large healthcare systems in South Jersey for the majority of his career.

But for Gene, the most important thing was his family. Whether he was supporting his parents, or his four sisters, or his wife, children and grandchildren, nothing was ever too much for his family. We will remember Gene as a devoted, caring, kind man, who went above and beyond for those he loved.

Family and friends are invited to attend services at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, St. John's Church, 809 Park Ave, Collingswood, NJ 08108. Visitation begins at 10 am and mass at 11 am on Friday, February 9.
