Dorothy H.
Beatty
Sep 22, 1926 — Sep 2, 2024
Dorothy H. Beatty (nee Hall) formerly of Haddon Heights and Barrington, passed away on September 2, 2024, at the age of 97. Devoted mother of Richard L. Beatty, Jr. (Bernadette), Linda Sue Lyons (the late William), Glenn Beatty (Lois), Stephen Beatty (Linda) and John Beatty. Loving grandmother of William "Mike" (Naomi), Martin (Gina), Colleen, Lauren, Rachel (Steve), Jennifer, Robert and Emma. Loving great grandmother of Asher, Ethan, Vera, Connor, and Garrett. Dear sister of Susan Hall Crawford and the late Gardiner "Butch" Hall. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
"Baby Dot", as she was known, was born and raised in Annapolis, MD. She loved the Naval Academy, especially the football team, and was married to midshipman, Richard Beatty, Sr in 1949 till his death in 1988.
Dot, no don't call her Dorothy as that was her mother's name too, loved to entertain. She was a firm believer of "sit long, talk much, and laugh often", sometimes overcooking a meal so she could enjoy your company. As the years flew by, there was no concern about her burning any more meals because she was generally entertained by her family and was often celebrated by family and friends, thus no need for her to cook. She sat and enjoyed everyone who had time to visit.
Mom was dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and the community. Working with the PTA, mom portrayed Mrs. Johnson as she sashayed across the stage in her miniskirt and high-heeled boots for the school play, Harper Valley, PTA. We'll forever remember the look of surprise on her face when she discovered that all of the Girl Scout cookie cases had been devoured by the family, Women's Club, and church. She was most dedicated to the Haddon Heights volunteer ambulance squad, where she became forever friends with Marguerite and Rita. Dottie was also involved with the Order of the Eastern Star of MD and NJ, serving the Order for 80 years, she was proud of her commission serving as Grand Representative of Kansas in New Jersey in 2015 - 2017.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 9 to 11 AM, followed by her Order of the Eastern Star Service and Funeral Service at 11 AM at TERRANOVA FUNERAL HOME, 402 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.
