Obituary

Doris A. Costa (nee Duble) of Williamstown, formerly of Punta Gorda, FL, Stratford and Hi-Nella, passed away on April 7, 2026, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of Charles Costa. Devoted mother of David Costa (Laura), Richard Costa (Gary Sitomer), Diana Costa-Weselinski and Matthew Costa (Andrea). Loving grandmother of Brandon Costa (Kristina), Anthony Costa (Alexandria), Alexis Roscioli (Joseph), Makayla Weselinski, Alex Weselinski, Tatiana Bryant (Christopher) and Katarina Costa. Loving great grandmother of Brayden Costa, Nathan Costa, Beau Roscioli, Maverick Roscioli, Angelina Costa and Emory Bryant. Dear sister of Mary Morasco (the late Robert) and Christina Pierce (the late Stephen). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Doris was born in Pleasantville, NJ on February 8, 1939, the oldest daughter of Edwin and Mary Duble. From a young age Doris just loved to sing. She would tell everyone she wanted to be a "Radio Star." She often told stories of how she used to stand on the bottom landing of the steps of her childhood home in Hi-Nella, NJ and sing. That was her "Stage." Her Mother would say "I want to be able to hear every word from the Kitchen". Doris sang her very first solo, "Silent Night" when she was 5 years old at the First Presbyterian Church of Somerdale, NJ.

In her High School years Doris continued her pursuit of a music career, taking voice lessons and singing in church choirs every chance she could. Doris was also the Drum Major of the Vagabonds Jr. Drum and Bugle corps from 1956 to 1960. This is where she met her future Husband Charles Costa. Doris was only 17 at the time and Charles was 16.

After High School, Doris auditioned for the Philadelphia Grand Opera company and was accepted. Though short lived her focus then turned to probably the most important job on earth, becoming a mother. Doris was married to Charles Costa on August 18, 1962, and the two of them raised four beautiful children David, Richard, Diana & Matthew.

Doris remained very active in the arts, was involved in community theatre with "The Road Company Theatre Group", sang in the Oratorio Choir at Haddonfield United Methodist Church and was a member of the choir at Audubon Methodist church for 10+ years where she sang countless Sunday worship solo's and was involved in many church musical productions.

Doris was a bookkeeper for many, many years after all her children started school, for several companies over her 15+ year career. Doris volunteered at Sterling High School as a vocal coach for several school musicals. Doris also achieved her real estate license and worked part-time for Weichert Realtors. She even tried her hand as a softball umpire for a few years.

Doris never missed the opportunity to support her children in any activity they were involved in. She sat through countless wrestling matches, football games, softball games, baseball games, marching band performances, concert band and choir concerts, school plays and school musicals. She was so proud of each one of her children.

Doris was a warrior ahead of her time, never wavering in her opinions and would respectfully disagree with anyone; her moral compass was strong as was her love and devotion to her family and friends. Doris never missed anyone's birthday, Anniversary, or special event and always sent you a card or a gift.

Some of Doris's famous advice: "Always give a firm handshake and look at them in the eye" or "Chose something in life that you love to do and you'll never work a day in your life." Doris was the co-pilot on every family vacation with a map in her hands telling Charles where to go whether he liked it or not. "She could pack a whole house in a suitcase" Charles would say.

One could go on and on about how wonderful Doris was, but one thing is for certain; she was loved very, very much by so many and will be greatly missed by all!

May God Bless you and keep you until we meet again!
