Celia D.
Ferrara
Jan 30, 1926 — Jan 20, 2026
Everyone's favorite aunt growing up, a dedicated and proud treasurer of the Sons and Daughters of Italy, and an independent woman ahead of her time with a career spanning decades at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia, Celia Ferrara passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 20th.
The youngest of nine siblings, she was predeceased by seven sisters and one brother just ten days shy of her 100th birthday. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who will remember her fondly in many ways, most notably as the family baker who brought boxes of biscotti, chocolate Bundt cake, and her signature Jewish apple cake to every family gathering.
Celia will be remembered for the way she showed her love through food, tradition, and showing up for family, always with something homemade in hand.
Celia's viewing is Friday, January 23, 2026, from 10 to 11 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 17th and Morris Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
