Betty-Ruth Louise
Schopfer
Oct 26, 1959 — Feb 15, 2024
Betty-Ruth Louise Schopfer, 64 years old lived a full life with her parents Louis Albert Schopfer, Sr. and Ruth Marie Bilse Schopfer. She attended Cherry Hill School District's developing special education program transitioning to the Arc of Camden County Berlin Adult Training Center from 1982 to the present. Upon her parent's deaths, she resided with her sister in the Erial section of Sicklerville and vacationed with the fun sister in Barrington on the weekends. In October 2023 she moved into the Peggy Englebert Arc group home until Monday, February 12th where she rested peacefully at the Samaritan Center in Voorhees.
Betty was always ready to go to Church, Sunday School, choir practices and Pacesetter dances with her sisters. She wanted to spend time with her favorite sister "Rue" who took her out to eat, car drives to various parks, played cards, colored pictures and polishing her nails. With "Dor" and Mike she took walks or swimming in the summer and did 'work' of peg boards, blocks, puzzles, and turn-taking games. As Betty sewed her blocks, she would laugh at the TV shows Green Acres' pig and Andy Griffin. Forever in her heart was the staff at The Berlin Arc Training Center especially Barb and Pat. They guided her to be the best she could be and accepted her differences.
Betty was preceeded in death by her brother John B. L. Schopfer along with two other infant brothers. She enjoyed her family and is survived by her siblings Dr. Carl L Schopfer (Rose), sister-in-law Bonnie, Ruthmarie Schopfer Weinberg (Bob deceased), Dorothy Schopfer Bonadies (Mike) and Louis A Schopfer, Jr. (Janice) along with nieces and nephews: Amy, Arron, Bernadette, Bilse, John, Carl, Mark, Roseann, Michael Jr., Michelle, Elizabeth, Matthew and great-niece Leah and great-nephews Nicholas, Collin, JeeYool and Theo.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 9 to 11 AM, followed by her Memorial Service at 11 AM at St. John's Church, 149 Ganttown Road, Sicklerville, NJ 08012. A luncheon, in the church hall, will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contribution to Arc of Camden County, 215 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ 08009 www.arccamden.org or to Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, PO Box 71425, Philadelphia, PA 19176 www.samaritannj.org
