Obituary

Aurelio "Ray" Burzichelli of Cinnaminson, passed away on June 2, 2020, at the age of 72. Son of the late Angelina Venuto Burzichelli and Vincent Burzichelli. Beloved husband of 48 years to Marybeth Derecola. Beloved father of Justin of Cinnaminson and Marisa of Mt Laurel. He will also be missed by his grand dog Betsy. Ray was predeceased by his sister Rita. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Eileen Stahl, niece Kristin Shustack, great niece Olivia and nephew Ryan Shustack and many cousins and dear friends.

Ray was born and raised in South Philadelphia. He lived in Cinnaminson for 41 years, where he was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, participating in many ministries and the Holy Name Society. Ray was a graduate of Bishop Neumann High School in Philadelphia and LaSalle College with a B. S. in Business Administration. He retired in 2008 as Chief Budgets and Grants, Health and Senior Services, for the State of New Jersey. Since 1995, he was a member of the Association of Government Accountants in Financial Management, Trenton New Jersey Chapter.

Ray was a man of faith and lived for his family. He loved travel, history, politics and was an Eagles fan. He enjoyed his daily workouts at the gym with his wife. His real passion however was music which began as a teenager with cousins and friends in a musical group, The Rainbows. Ray was an accomplished musician, for many years, as a professional drummer and later as a talented vocalist, performing with musical groups and trios, in the Tri State area, spanning many decades. Lastly, he performed with the Sonar Trio. He was a lifelong member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 341, Norristown, PA for 50 years.

Ray was a selfless person who had a passion for any injustice and had compassion for all. After suffering a hemorrhagic stroke in May 2019, he left the physical world from complications of COVID 19. He will forever be missed but his pain is gone and he is finally at peace and at home with The Lord.
